Spend your Venice DIEM building apps you own

If you hold staked DIEM, you get US$1 of Venice API credit per DIEM, every day. It comes back at 00:00 UTC, and unused DIEM does not roll over. So a quiet day is credit you never get back.

SPOE builds apps, websites and games on Venice's models. Now you can run those builds on your own Venice key, so your DIEM pays for the models. You get a real project you can export and run anywhere, instead of credit that expired.

How to turn it on

  1. Make an API key in your Venice settings.
  2. In SPOE, open Secrets, go to Model keys and save it as your Venice key. SPOE checks it with Venice and keeps it in your browser.
  3. Turn on Build with my key. It is off until you do.

The line under the builder's box then says the build is on your key, what it may take from your Venice credit, and how much DIEM you have left today.

Venice spends a key's DIEM first, then its other credit. You need at least 0.1 staked DIEM before any of it can be spent, and Venice lets you set a daily limit on each key if you want a cap.

What it costs

Venice bills your key for the models: the one that writes the code, and the second model from another family that reviews every change. Pictures you ask for are billed to your key too. A large app on a big model can use a lot of credit, so read the line under the box before you send.

SPOE charges a flat 2 credits a build, plus 1 for each AI picture. A build that fails costs you no SPOE credits. Venice may still bill your key for what it had already answered.

You don't need a SPOE plan to build this way, though you do need those few credits. Export still unlocks with your first payment of any size, and then it stays unlocked for good. Your code is always there to read and copy in the editor, paid or not.

What happens to your key

Your key stays in your browser. To start a build, it goes to SPOE's server with that one request, then to the worker running your build as a sealed box in that build's queue job. The job is removed when the run ends, however it ends. Your key is not written to the database or the logs.

If the worker restarts in the middle of a build, your key is gone with it. The build stops and asks you to send it again, and SPOE charges nothing. It never carries on using SPOE's key, and SPOE never spends your key without you asking.

What stays on SPOE's credits

These don't run on your key yet:

SPOE also normally fixes a broken first build by itself, for free. On your key it doesn't, because that would spend your credit without asking. You get the Fix button instead.

If you don't hold DIEM

You don't need it. A plain Venice key with credit on it works the same way, and SPOE works without any Venice key at all.

This is not a reason to buy a token. DIEM's market price moves, and we can't tell you whether holding it makes sense for you. If you already have it, this gives it something useful to do on the days you'd otherwise lose it.
